I am delighted to offer my support for this distinguished course in applied theatre. Applied theatre reaches people at vulnerable points in their lives, it builds communities and encourages life-long creativity. As a theatre practice, it requires specialist skills from artists, theatre-makers and practitioners. Training programmes led by experienced practitioners enable artists to develop new approaches to applied theatre, and strengthen the abilities of people new to applied theatre. Japan has potential to develop a lively programme of applied theatre, and this course will strengthen that ambition. ーーーHelen Nicholson
